The Science of Leadership (psst: I have a confession)
Hello, Fellow Leaders and welcome to the Impact Leader website! As you’ve scrolled through, you’ve noticed encouraging words to develop oneself as a more influential leader. To become an exemplary leader.
Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner literally ‘wrote the book’ on leadership encompassing nearly forty years of replicated, validated research in the book entitled The Leadership Challenge®. Training and coaching through Impact Leader can help you increase the core leadership behaviors that your direct reports, managers and community partners recognize as necessary to be an exemplary leader.
Now here’s my confession: I held leadership titles through three+ decades of my career. And I didn’t really understand or know the research and science behind becoming a better leader. Not to cast stones, but I don’t think I’m alone in that. I think many of my leader colleagues have never had training that propels them to perform as exemplary leaders. No shame, but you don’t have to continue with that mediocrity.
And spoiler alert: Everyone is a leader regardless of title. And everyone can improve their leadership behaviors. While it is science, it’s not rocket science! The leadership behaviors that need to increase are concrete and understandable. But not everyone who calls themselves a leader routinely practices those core behaviors. To improve, you do have to commit yourself, value enhancing your leadership skills and be open to feedback.
Becoming a better leader is a lifelong endeavor. Join me in the pursuit of better leadership and Lead With Impact!
